On november 2018 in Android Dev Summit, google announced that they are expanding support in Android to include Foldables, in preparation for upcoming devices from hardware partners like Samsung.

As they announced back in november 2018, other companies also shows interest in making of foldable phones. Now a days, we are able to see different foldable products in market with samsung galaxy F.

This foldable phones are truely amazing as its working as a normal phone/phone-cum-tab therefore users can get best experience in a single device.

In additions here is the ability to flag the app to respond to the screen as it folds and unfolds — the effect would likely be similar to the response of applications as handsets switch between portrait and landscape modes.

Interestingly, this foldables are capable of following features:

1. Screen continuity

In screen continuity, running application could be transitioned from one screen to another automatically (eg. when folding/unfolding a foldable phone).

During this transition, running application will receive a configuration change for the new layout (and possibly density in some cases).

2. Multi-resume

Earlier, when an app is in multi-window but not focused, it is on the On-pause state.(Automatically goes to pause state)

As lots of apps are not supporting multi-window, they are allowing device manufacturers to keep all apps resumed when in multi-windows in P.

Take a look at this picture:

3. Multi-display

Beginning with Android 8.0 (API level 26), the platform offers enhanced support for multiple displays. If an activity supports multi-window mode and is running on a device with multiple displays, users can move the activity from one display to another. When an app launches an activity, the app can specify which display the activity should run on.

However, more corrections will likely to placed by developers as and when needed. Earlier, we are watching this types of exclusive devices in some movies but now we are also able to use it and share our new experience of using this devices to the world.

Above all are technical things, but if we talk in a simple ways then, this device is capable of doing multiple things in a single screen.(For example, a user can read news, watch YouTube videos and chat with someone at the same time)

Best benefit of this device is not to carry a different device for large screen(eg. laptop, tablet), a user can be able to do large or small display as per their requirements.
